Stardew Valley Tilapia: Where to Catch them, their Uses, etc.

Stardew Valley tilapia is often referred to as tilapia fishes caught in Stardew Valley. Tilapia fishes (either fresh or fried tilapia) can be used on food recipes, fish ponds, tailoring, and as an ingredient for quality fertilizers.

The Tilapia fishes can be found more during summer and fall in the Ocean during all kinds of weather. It can be sold at a base price of 75g, 93g for silver quality, and 112g for gold quality.

A tilapia can be caught in the size range of 11-31 inches and when consumed, you will receive a boost of 25 energy, and 11 health.

Although it is possible to find the tilapia fish elsewhere, Ginger Island however is the best place to find tilapia at any time in Stardew Valley. Go fishing on Island West in freshwater, or Island North to find the fish.

When trying to catch a tilapia fish in Stardew valley, using a Bait and Wild Bait will help make the Stardew Valley Tilapia (and most other fish in general) easier to catch, as they will bite more frequently.

However, with the Iridium Rod, you will be able to use bobbers and bait simultaneously. The Tilapia Stardew Valley like most fish is quite versatile and has a wide range of uses which includes the following:

1. Gifting

Gifting a tilapia fish to your loved ones is one of the ways tilapia fishes can be used. You can give Tilapia by itself to people as a gift, but this is not recommended, as all of them are either neutral towards the fish or outright dislike or hate it.

2. Selling

Tilapia fish like most other fishes can be sold in exchange for money. Tilapia sells for a base price of 75 gold at standard quality. Silver Quality Tilapia sells at 93 gold, Gold Quality Tilapia sells for 112 gold, and Iridium Quality Tilapia sells for 150 gold.

3. Tilapia Recipes

There are many tilapia recipes available for preparing and consuming tilapia fish. Some of the recipes are the Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, Sashimi, etc.; all of these recipes call for a single fish.

Aside from the above-mentioned recipes, tilapia fishes can also be consumed as fried tilapia and other fried tilapia recipes like (pan fried tilapia, deep fried tilapia, air fried tilapia, oven fried tilapia, etc.).

4. Fish Pond

You can also farm tilapia fishes by putting them into a fish pond, feed them and sell them in exchange for money when they must have grown big enough for sale.

Once the fishes are of edible size, they can be sold in different places like markets, eateries, hotels, restaurants, bars, and many more places where tilapia fishes can be consumed.

When you’re fishing, there’s a mini-game you need to partake in before you can catch a fish. A small window will appear with a fish icon and a bar; you will have to tap a button to move the bar up and down while keeping the fish inside the bar.

A meter to the side will start to fill when it’s inside but will decrease when the bar and the icon don’t overlap. Then fill the meter to catch the fish, but if it decreases completely, the fish will escape.

Stardew Valley Tilapia fish: Night Market

Three types of fish can be caught exclusively on the submarine during the night market, which takes place between 5 pm – 2 am during Winter 15-17.

  • Midnight Squid
  • Blobfish
  • Spook Fish

Stardew Valley Walleye: Stardew valley fishing Guide

Stardew Valley Walleye is a fish that can be caught when raining during the fall and can be found in places like rivers, lakes, and forest ponds.

Although it claims winter and fall, further research suggests they can only be caught during the fall.

When placed in a fish pond, Walleye can reproduce every 3 days. The initial pond capacity is 3 fish, but the capacity can be increased to 10 by completing three quests.

How to Farm Walleye

The best thing to do with this specific fish is to sell it. It’s fairly easy to set up a Walleye farm and sell them for extra Gold.

Like most fishes, the Stardew Valley Walleye can be used to create a few different dishes but the more important use for this is in two different bundles for the Community Center.

Initially, players can hold three fish in their pond, but if they complete all of the fishing quests, the pond capacity can reach ten.

To increase the capacity of Walleye in a pond, retrieve the following items and toss them into the pond.

  • Capacity 5: Acorns x3, Bug Meat x10, Maple Seeds x3, Pine Cones x3
  • Capacity 7: Gold Ore x3, Maple Syrup x1, Mixed Seeds x5
  • Capacity 10: Crayfish x1, Honey x1, Jade x2, Periwinkle x1

It will take three days for Walleyes to reproduce in a pond, so players will need to wait a few weeks to reach full capacity.

The offspring can be sold for a base of 105g, which can be increased to 131g or 157g, if the player is a Fisher or Angler, respectively.

Fish in Stardew Valley also have different behavior patterns – there are five in total.

  • Mixed – they move in a basic pattern
  • Smooth – they move with a steady, slower pattern
  • Sinker – they move with a faster downwards acceleration
  • Floater – they move with a faster upwards acceleration
  • Dart – they move with a random pattern and are more difficult to predict and catch

To access these, you first have to complete at least one Crafts Room bundle.

Night Fishing Bundle:

  • Bream.
  • Eel.
  • Walleye.

Quality Fish Bundle:

  • Largemouth Bass (Gold Quality).
  • Shad (Gold Quality).
  • Tune (Gold Quality).
  • Walleye (Gold Quality).
