Ways to Improve Agricultural Farming Activities and Enhance Productivity

Anyone can practically get involved in different farming activities, we can all help to save the planet by beautifying our surroundings with trees, flowers, and gardens, for example.

Providing any small amount of food we can produce in our gardens by planting vegetables and different seeds of our choice, as well as teaching our children how to plant the seeds themselves to help them master the act.

Some of us can also start small by keeping and raising backyard animals such as chickens, rabbits, snails, fish, goats, sheep, cows, and many more, depending on the available space.

The beauty of it all is that we might even be able to produce what we and our households can eat without having to buy them from food markets, thereby saving money on our living expenses.

Consider this: a person who has a yam farm with some yams already harvested and stored will not buy yams from the food market because that person was able to cultivate yams that can feed himself and, in most cases, his household.

Another example is a woman who has a garden where vegetables and some crops such as ugu vegetable (fluted pumpkin), pepper, okro, tomatoes, and other related vegetables and crops are planted. She will not have to buy all of those items from the market because she already has them from her garden, thereby lowering her food purchasing costs.

The examples are endless, but the point is that we can all work together to improve agricultural farming activities by contributing our quotas at various levels, whether small-scale or commercial.

Most people complain about time as one of the factors preventing them from engaging in farming activities, but the fact remains that most of these farming operations, such as planting seeds in the soil, require very little time. As a result, it is often a matter of determination rather than time.

Although there is no shortage of time to plant these crops, thanks to the continuous innovations that have resulted in the e-farming system, also known as e-agriculture. This farming system allows anyone interested in investing in agriculture to participate in the farming process without having to do the primary practical work.

Through this approach, one can easily become an agricultural investor by investing with practical farmers who are knowledgeable about farming and agreeing to a certain percentage (percentage) increase in the amount invested.

This way, the farmers have access to the funds they need to maximize production, while the investor receives a return on investment (ROI) from the farm produce’s proceeds. All of these practices will contribute to adequate food production and long-term agricultural productivity around the world.

Many developing countries are currently confronted with major food security challenges as a result of changes in rural land use and population pressure.

Because agriculture is a practical science, one way to respond to this issue is to teach it at various levels of education, beginning with early childhood.

Farmers education is important to the improvement of agricultural productivity in the following ways: formal education opens the farmer’s mind to knowledge, non-formal education provides the farmer with hands-on training and better farming methods, and informal education keeps the farmer abreast of changing innovations and ideas and allows the farmer to share experience gained.

It is recommended that the government improve the quality of agricultural formal education, extension services, and adult literacy classes, as well as the factors that affect agricultural productivity, such as transportation, access to inputs, and credit facilities for farmers.
