Project Versus Process in Agricultural Activities
The activities carried out in an agricultural setup can either be a project activity or a process activity. Consider a farming enterprise engaged in the production of crops or livestock. In this enterprise, workers will be performing many routine activities that will be repeated over and over again. For example, crop cultivation might be standardized with a series of activities, one following the other.

There may be some activities that will be required to be carried out in parallel with other activities. The entire set of activities involved in the farming process will follow a routine and will get repeated over and over again. All such activities that are interrelated and repeated in a set pattern fall under the ambit of a process.
Suppose the farming enterprise proposes to expand its production capacity and set up additional farming infrastructure, such as a new greenhouse or irrigation system. All the activities required to complete the setup of these additional facilities fall under the ambit of a project.
These activities are carried out only once and not repeated again. Similarly, when the enterprise upgrades its farming techniques by incorporating new technology or improving its production facilities, the activities that are carried out fall under the ambit of a project.
Once the required modifications in the farming facilities are carried out, the renewed farming process will be in place, and the activities contained in the renewed process will be repeated over and over again. These repeated activities form part of the process.
Thus, it can be seen that managing an agricultural project is a more challenging task, involving a high degree of novelty and uncertainty, than managing a process where the tasks to be done are more or less well-defined and standardized.
