Since chickens require approximately 14 hours of sunlight to lay an egg, this means that as the daylight decreases during the fall and winter months, your chickens will begin to lay fewer eggs.
However, to get more eggs from your laying chickens, then you need to place a lightbulb in their houses or coops to recreate the hours of sunlight they require. However, keep your light on a timer to ensure that your chickens do not receive more than 16 hours of sunlight per day as required.
